FOOD
CELEBRATE REFLECT ACT
"Food is too humble for its own good. It's such a routine part of our day that its potential to create change is, as the saying goes, HIDDEN IN PLAIN SIGHT . Food has extraordinary qualities as a catalyst of personal and social restoration. It has a UNIQUE POWER-- not domination, but power that enables POSITIVE CHANGE."

fromWayne Roberts, Rod MacRae and Lori Stahlbrand, "Real Food For a Change" (1999)

FOOD POLITICS
Food has the power to bring people together, transgress boundaries, and open minds. Food politics, however, can divide individuals, communities, even nations. Hunger, genetically modified foods, vegetarianism, free vs. fair trade, and water among many other topics, complicate our lives. Why is food such a hot issue? Roll over an image to find out.

Everybody knows that "you are what you eat" - that what you consume affects your health and well being. Yet what you eat also impacts the world around you, and touches us all. In this month's art contest, "We Are What You Eat," the Global Gallery invites you to create images that show how our world is affected and changing, in positive or negative ways, because of our eating habits.
