Sometimes the weight or the complexity of an issue can make you feel like you can't change how the world operates. This is the farthest thing from the truth. If you are motivated to change the way you think about food, read on for some simple things you can do!

Change the World One Meal at a Time
Buy the quantity of food you can consume and not waste any
Support local farmers; buy locally grown foods
Re-discover forgotten foods that grow in the area
Plant home, community and school gardens
Raise poultry, small animals or fish to eat or sell
Prepare different recipes with locally available foods
Grow and sell foods through co-operative efforts
Establish centres or food banks to share food
Invite commercial food growers to be part of community action committees
Advocate for local laws and food standards
Use your contacts to find out what local groups, media, and authorities are doing to promote health, nutrition and prevent hunger and malnutrition
Ask your local coffee shop or supermarket to carry Fair Trade foods
Hold a TIG Open Forum on a food issue that matters to you
Help End Hunger
Give Your Time
Volunteer or donate time to help prepare and serve food in soup kitchens and community centers in your community.
Participate in events, campaigns and activities already planned by local groups
Build Awareness
Share hunger information in your morning announcements at school
Share hunger information in your organizations' newsletter or email list serve
Write, email or call your elected officials to tell them that hunger is an issue that matters to you
Write an editorial to your local newspaper
Organize
Organize an assembly, forums, debates, and public discussions about the Hunger
Organize a walk against hunger
Organize a canned food drive for your local food bank
Fundraise/Make a Donation

As the food aid arm of the UN, the WFP feeds an average of 90 million people in more than 80 countries each year through food aid. For over 40 years, WFP has been moving food to the people who need it. Fight Hunger: Walk the World http://www.fighthunger.org/
Fight Hunger: Walk the World is a global annual event to raise awareness and the funds needed to help end child hunger. Last year, 40,000 people walked on 20 June in over 70 countries, and raised enough money to fund school meals for over 30,000 school children in developing countries. Join the thousands of people on Sunday, June 12, 2005 will 'walk the world' in 24 hours and across 24 time zones.

Feeding Minds, Fighting Hunger

Telefood: Building Solidarity to end World Hunger

Raising awareness about the problem of hunger mobilizes energy to find a solution. In 1997, FAO launched TeleFood, a campaign of concerts, sporting events and other activities to harness the power of media, celebrities and concerned citizens to help fight hunger.
Food for Life Global: Representing the World's Largest Vegan/Vegetarian Food Relief Food for Life as the name suggests is a unique project for bringing food and life to the needy of the world through the liberal distribution of karma-free vegetarian meals . United Against Hunger Not one organization, but a group of many interested in fighting world hunger through awareness campaigns.
Canadian Association of Foodbanks Toronto-based umbrella organization representing approximately 235 food banks across every Canadian province and territory. Member food banks and their agencies serve about 90 percent of people who use food banks.
