Sustainable development is not a game; the world cannot handle being played with. Greed seems to conquer reason far too much. Sustainable development means fighting for our common future and a dignity for all. A change is both necessary and possible; we are now laying the foundation of how the world will handle the massive strain on its natural resources. We the inhabitants of earth all have common but different responsibilities to deal with this challenge. We must stop playing.
Sustainable development is per definition cross sectional, it covers about everything it affects; every body on the planet whether they are an active part in the negotiation process or not. In order to reach a sustainable and just world, local condition and tradition must be taking in to consideration. Caring for our shared natural resources must be a basic for development and a solid fundamental is a prerequisite. We refuse to be treated as pupils on the string by world leaders, international diplomacy, and international business.
Global poverty eradication is an ambitious goal far beyond the millennium goal, where poverty by 2015 is the set target. Reaching goals like this is impossible as we continue to play in a make-believe world. There is no make-believe about the world today, as there are one and two-thirds million people in our planet that live in poverty. The world military spending 2 years ago amounted to US$798 billion, while only $53 billion where spent on development. Out of the 100 biggest economies 51 are companies. It is said that the proof is in the pudding. Is this the reality the world leaders really want? We can't afford to play games anymore sustainable development is for real, with severe consequences. No make believe, just real problems for real people in a real world culled from the west
