I stared out into the distance,
Wondering what it was all for,
And in life if there is anything more,
The sky filled with shades of orange and blue,
Gave me no answers,
I had no clue,
Thoughts whizzed back and forth through my mind,
I couldn’t keep track my mind was entwined,
Thoughts floated about.
Why do these things happen?
Does anyone know?
Are we all just a show,
Do we live a fake life?
Fooling ourselves,
Convincing ourselves that it will look better if I think this,
Or do that,
Or say this,
Or say that,
Why do we compromise ourselves to look good to others,
When others are just doing the same thing,
Are we just not all brothers,
All skin,
All blood,
All with hearts and souls?
Or are we just a soup of chemicals?
Can a scientist break us down as far as to explain everything?
That happiness is caused by one chemical reacting with another,
Will our innocence be lost?
And at what cost?
Is there no hope,
No wish,
That there is something greater,
Something that gives us meaning?
Or is it all just chemicals,
Explained by the simple language of science and math?
How far is man’s wrath?
To dig deeper into subjects so sacred,
And unknown.
As I stare into the distance this all crosses my mind,
The funny thing is that I find,
All I can do is move on,
And not dwell on the past,
For answers will never come that fast,
So I move on to new thoughts,
And forget of all the things I once thought.
