Everywhere you look these days

we're blinded by the campaign haze.

Vote for me I'll do my best

I'm so much better than the rest.

Politicians know the score.

Entertain and never bore.

In your face on every street.

Their opponent they must beat.

Catchy slogans everywhere.

Corporate sponcers on the air.

Feeding us with so much bull.

Each of them has to much pull.

Candidates will huff and puff

some of them will play it ruff.

Trying to persuade the crowd

with their message clear and loud.

But who's to say just what is true.

They're not like me and not like you.

They are rich and powerful.

Most went to the same old school.

All will say they'll help you some

but most of them are no good scum.

Lying, cheating, greedy folk

treating us like we're some joke.

Players of the power game.

Each of them is just the same.

Claiming they will help amend.

Once they're in it's goodbye friend.

"Thank you much for choosing me.

Now I'll help my family

and all those special power groups.

I can because I'll have the troops."

All that money they invest,

now in turn, I'll do my best

to ensure they get their bill

while I'm up here on the hill.

It's the way it's always been

regardless of the party win.

They do it cause they want their say.

In this land that is the way.

Once in charge they soon forget

all those folks who placed their bet,

that maybe it would somehow change.

We believe, and that's so strange.

They could care less what you need.

This game is just to feed their greed.

No matter who you think they are

politicians won't stray far.

They have got to feed the beast.

On your taxes they will feast.

Even those that try real hard

soon get trumped by hidden card.

It's a game for kings and queens.

Meant for them that have the means.

Rarely does the common man

have a leg on which to stand.

So agendas come and go,

and everything is just a show.

Power shifts to left or right

giving us another fight.

While we battle to agree

they consume our liberty.

Even when you think you've won,

another war as just begun.

The game of power is for keeps.

Corrupting while our nation sleeps.

Every change remains the same.

We only have ourselves to blame.

« return.
