This is a story about two complementary phenomenons, Today and the Future. They are relatives who once lived together. One day the Future told Today that I want my share of security and Today said that He would look into it. Today had all what it takes; the richness, the power over the Future and this was not good for the Future. Then as days went by, Today began to be very arrogant and even went ahead to deny the Future's right to exist. It only minded of its well being. The environment was degraded so that the future could not toil the land, the water and air were polluted to such an extent that there was nothing to use, peace was also not there for the Future to survive, and this really angered the Future. The Future made it do all it could to survive and the rest is a story for another day. What is the moral of the story? This story tries to highlight for us the essence of minding about the future of our next generations. We are the "Today's" in the story and the next generations are the "Futures". This can only be done if we secure the available resources for them also. That is why we, the students of Egerton University, mindful of the future, try to come up with awareness programs to enlighten the communities around Egerton University on the benefits of conserving Mu Forest for the future generations needs for peace and security. « return. |
