He met a man who told him He was going to get a magic lamp He was happy and smiling all day Thinking of what he would wish for Making plans every moment Dreaming endlessly of things and happenings He was on a high Laughing his heart out And then some days passed Still no sign of the magic lamp He waited everyday for something to happen But it didn’t He started cursing the man who told him that He was going to get a magic lamp He went back looking for him so that he could give him A piece of his mind He searched high and low But couldn’t find him Then one day he saw something He found that man at a distance with a lamp in his hand He started running Running towards him He ran and he ran And the joy of all good things he had dreamt of Lifting him up He ran and he ran He was walking away from him He increased his pace He was passing his school building His friends called him He didn’t stop Then he passed his college His friends cheered him But he didn’t thank them The faster he ran the farther the man got He was getting tired The man was right ahead of him but somehow he never got to him He couldn’t catch up Then he came to his work place He didn’t stop to say hello to his boss and colleagues He ran and he ran He saw his love waiting for him on the park bench He waved to her He was tempted to stop But he kept on And went ahead Running still He was very tired He was breaking down His legs ached He couldn’t even move anymore He wished for someone to help him But there was no one He was alone He had left everyone behind And now he was all alone Nobody by his side And the man had stopped He turned back And now the man was laughing at him He felt like a fool « return. |
