I loved them all but she was special
Long raven hair
obsidian eyes that warmed the cold
and a voice so sweet it held more power
than a fresh bouquet of wildflowers.
One day - on a journey - she slipped off a truck
if she'd been tied down we'd have had better luck
I mourned for her - we all felt sad.
I changed and became hard like wood
no one around me understood.
her eyes looked straight through me but she wasn't there
As if somehow she knew but that life wasn't fair
One day I awoke from deep in my sleep
to laughter and singing
I jumped to my feet
And there right before me
was the one I adore
Except for her new face all was just as before.
my creations rejoiced when they heard she was back
I'd made them of scraps and they loved me for that
A tear filled my eye but right there was my craft
My puppets and I all together we laughed
