Like the heart of a nursing
Mother numbs over a nubile daughter,
Or the heart of a father munches and is muddled
Over the mundane state of any man dying,
Or the murk moves shown
By the modern day muezzin
From the minaret of Ivory Tower,
So the star, muggings, multitude, muscatel
Have departed from you;
Children yell, “Don’t Desert Drylands!”
Women woe, “They are in support of children”.
Men groan, "How do they inhabit the desert?”
Confused! Confused! O Sahara Desert, everyone is confused.
To help us at this hour, what shall we do?
The knoll is now mightier than the mountain,
And the question continued to rattle our mind
Before you, Sahara Desert, with diadem of sunlight.
You are now what looks and seems like
An insoluble paradox or impossibility
Found among the universality of features;
Nevertheless, it’s fundamental that we
Remember you this day, a day
We Commemorate Desert and Desertification.
Because, again, it’s scientifically written:
“Material bodies, organic and inorganic,
Live and grow by increasingly fast motion.
They also die & decay by increasingly fast motion."
Like the heart of a nursing
Mother numbs over a nubile daughter,
Or the heart of a father munches and is muddled
Over the mundane state of any man dying,
Or the murk moves shown
By the modern day muezzin
From the minaret of Ivory Tower,
So the star, muggings, multitude, muscatel
Have departed from you.
