This is probably because, in the words of Zakir Husain, "A capitalist must strive to gain, not always because he is greedy, not always because he is selfish, but just because he is a capitalist." Therefore, their "traditional" moral responsibility to help the poor by giving them things the latter need should not be the only moral responsibility they should feel. Their traditional moral responsibility is only a part of their broader moral responsibility. They should feel a moral responsibility to get involved in the movement against the exploitative capitalistic economic system, or any other exploitative socio-economic system, if any.
If we do not feel any moral responsibility to help others be free from the problem they suffer from, it is either because we do not want them to be free from that problem or because we were not born with, have lost or temporarily forgotten the ability we have to feel a moral responsibility to help the others with their problems. Indeed, this is characteristic of "human beings who are really human beings." Because we have this ability we want to assist those beset by certain problems in getting rid of them; this can be seen as a moral responsibility. That implies, that those who do not feel this moral responsibility, characteristic as it is of human beings, hold a [moral] status that is below even that of animals.
