It hurts to remember.
How the guns cracked,
How with sneering gesture
they raped, maimed, looted,
Looted a people – the OGONI
Raped a land – OGONI
“Aa-ah!” are their cries,
“shh!” their tormentors shout.
Day after day,
the land dies.
Moment by moment,
the people weep.
Is anyone listening?
