She watched him with empty eyes, as in her heart lay a longing she knew could never be fulfilled. With a friendly smile that felt almost natural, she asked his welfare, and asked of his classes. She took in the sight of him, in her mind scolding herself for being a witless fool, and took her leave, trailing alongside a mutual friend.

She now knows longing unlike anything she has ever known before, and no matter how much she tries to forget and let it be, she cannot help but wonder if things could had been different.

It is a secret she has kept but for trusted few.

Even they believed she had moved on; her affections showered on her other man, one she genuinely felt affectionate for. However, many times she was held in his comforting embrace, knowing that she was loved, and that it was freely given - she could not help but think of him, and the woman who betrayed her friendship and trust for him.

She hated herself for her apparent obsession, or true love for another.

Her current man did not deserve this, she knew, but she still held hope for the one she deemed lost. For him to wake up and think of her; if he actually thought of her the way she does him, though she knows that she asks for the impossible.

It is a fancy, and she had hoped for its passing for the past 2 years... to leave her; but stayed it had.

She was indeed a witless fool.
