I am not judged by the number of times I fail, but by the number of times I succeed. And the number of times I succeed is in direct proportion to the number of times I can fail and keep trying!!!!!!!!
It seemed like a never ending story. That I had perhaps overstayed my welcome in the land did not appear to make any difference. From the rigours of JAMB admission, through the harrowing experience of the Almighty White House, to those elusive electrons and trichomes in my first year, then the Chemical Structures I came to dread, to the Practicals I simply love to hate.
Now I stand at the threshold of success, on the my way to the pinnacle of greatness, Achievement and Glory beckoning to me. “Come” they both say, “come enjoy the fruits of your labour, the crowning of your efforts, the reward for tons of sweat and blood. Come and dwell in the esteemed presence of deities referred to as Medical Students” Thus, I stand with bated breath, just before dawn, at the threshold of victory waiting to exhale.
But believe me, it wasn’t easy, I came in as “innocent Jambite” without a care in the world, except perhaps to be handed that M.B. Ch.B., just like that! Alas, I have known better, I have learnt that the journey is and will be as torturous as climbing Everest, Swimming across the Atlantic, exploring the Amazon jungle or traveling across the Sahara. Now I have known better.
The endless reading, to the upheavals, and the intractable vicissitudes of my first year; have contributed to making me a sophomore student today. The savour of victory as paid off the price of the struggle.
The Biggest thanks to God who has saw me through this facet. To my Parents who toiled day and night to provide me with the very means of making it, my gratitude wil be forever. To my Lecturers who actually remolded me and taught me how to fish, that been given the fish; I say “gracias”………….
To my Brother, Sisters, and Colleagues for keeping my life in perspective.
