Nigeria is my country
Yes my country indeed
I grew up to find that I was in Nigeria
They told me I was a Nigerian.

I believed it and celebrated it
I grew up to know that we are a great people
United as a nation in diversity
Diversity in all things

Culture, tradition, language
Dressing, resources, environment and food
People too, virtually in all things,
I thought it was only Igbo people; my people were in this land

Even my people tried to be diverse
But I tried to understand them
Bind them together and
Make them one in my heart

Hausa, Yoruba, Efik, Tiv, Fulani, Igbo
Edo, Ibibio etc.
A people as their name are so diverse
The people in one country, yet diverse in all things

I quarried myself, Indeed I did
Can this people be one? What brought them together?
Can they survive as a people?
Can the above questions mean that unity is another name for diversity?

The answers are ok unity is in culture
Unity in their dressing, unity in their sharing
Unity in diversity is practicalized in Nigeria
I concluded, Unity works in diversity

It is the handwork of creator!
