Ever wonder
What it means to be alone
To be insulated
From the worldly tone
To be amid a lively crowd
And to feel that engulfing desert-silence
To speak with your mouth
While your heart waits for emergence
The soul remains thirsty
Of a companion
Who speaks not this worldly tongue?
But soaks the silence
With a mystic love

Ever wonder
When you look up
At the star-spangled sky
And the cool breeze
Lightly walks by
You feel an arcane absence
Of a confidante you never met
Of an Abigail you never glimpsed
To know that there is yet
A more scenic voice to be heard
Amplifies your loneliness

Ever wonder
When you touch a flower
And perceive the prophecy
Of a distant hour
Of an unfelt graze
Of a pleasant haze
And you realize that bitter truth
That you are alone
For now.

Ever wonder
Ever wonder...
