- Ramesh Sharma Literatteur cum journalist Kamala Sarup's short story collection Samjhuta Ko Modma has enlivened the love and hate relationship. She explained relations and the activities between human beings. Most of her stories and poems deal with real life problems, and have been written with the intensity that would please the intellect. Her other stories in the book deal with the spread of nationalism, society, love and emotion. The stories in her book examine the increasing love and sadness of life. They focus on the manner in which people have used love to manage the individual, social and environmental aspects of life. The theme of love is explored in a philosophical and spiritual vein. In her short stories she has depicted the lifestyles of different classes of people. In this respect several of Kamala's stories draws attention to the very simple things of life, joys and sorrow, which are important for the life of common people. Her first story in Laghutavash, she describes an unemployed man who gets depressed of getting a job. In another story 'Asurachit Odhar', she explain the life of a poor woman whose mother was a prostitute. The story exposes the prevailing conditions of Nepalese society. In the next story "Shanti di" Kamala has attempted to expose the inner contradiction of contemporary society. She gently mocks the petit bourgeois narrator for drifting through life. Kamala Sarup, Ph.D student in the US stories are mostly about love, human relationships, sex and spiritual philosophy.
