To be specific, I believe that the way our global society interacts today is guided primarily by ethics. For certain, ethics distinguishes if people are right or wrong by way of condemnation towards certain activities. Ethics has divided people into races; war has resulted; and people have been forced to abide by the ethical society. Thus, betraying their natural freedom, they go to kill, punish, and deny anything that opposes the decree of ethics. Allow me to share with you a story, though it is common, our focused attention needs to be on it... John’s mom and dad always shout at him every time if he has forgotten to clean his room, or do his everyday chores of sweeping the surroundings of their house. “You little bull, do you need me to be reminding you every day about your chores? Quickly go and make your bed; when you come back from school, directly go to clean the surroundings." John could not do anything more than just obey everything that his parents needed him to do, nor could he resist the name he was given, “the bull”, because since he was a little boy, his father used to buy him some little bull toys to play with. “Don’t talk to strangers, they will steal your bulls away.” Whenever they would leave the house, they would repeat the same words, leaving John playing with his little toys. When he cried, they would just bring him a bull doll to appease him. One-day, john discovered a method of dealing with his parents and their regular shouting towards him: “I will not clean the surroundings. Or make my bed, even when they say that I will not be able to take lunch as a punishment of failing to do my every day chores- and I will not mind either.” John thought to himself. Later on the next day, he did as he had planned, while his parents as usual repeated the same words. John proudly thought to himself, “I have won, for that’s what I planned to do. You will face me today mom and dad.” Off he went. His parents, after learning what John had done, became even more furious at him: they later added another punishment; “John you need to be more cooperative. Do whatever we tell you. Be a good son and we will love you. if you will not be cooperative enough, we will continue punishing you. What kind of a bad bull do you want to become? Not cleaning your surroundings and failing to make your bed! We will hate you John if you will not change. Next time, if you act like this again, just know that you will be sleeping outside of our house. We do not want rude children here, right!” They imposed another punishment on him. John the bull became even more miserable. He took his bull toys with him, and shed tears, remaining lonely in his room. He could not go to ask for help from other people; how could he talk to strangers, who would steal his only friends? How miserable will it be? More “painful” he thought, “well, I will find a solution. I will only pursue this till the point that one day I will be compelled to sleep outside - well it’s a good experience, I will try it one day.” The other day he thought, “I will not mind sleeping outside today. It's summer and hot, why should I make my bed and clean my surroundings? In fact, I sold one of my bulls to my school mate today, so I can buy something for lunch and dinner for myself. Why bother?” Off he was to arrange his plan, and everything happened according to how he had wanted it to. He took his bull toys with him to amuse himself that night. His parents were now enraged with fury, but still imposed one more punishment on John. He knew nothing other than being punished for every mistake he made, and he did not understad why he should make his bed and clean the surroundings all of the time. With no friends, he had not learned to give, but to sell his things to strangers; and protect his dolls from strangers, who would certainly steal them if left unguarded. Thus, what a grown up John the bull became from such an ethical family; and what they (his parents) called raising a child. Nowadays people are trying to create a global village, where by one head man will reign in power. It will reduce races to one clan; there will be no more thoughts of empowering the other; no strangers; or no racists, for we will be all neighbors and friends. In my brief explanation, I can tell that this ethicalism has improved our society so much, and enabled us to live in the present world. For example, the growth of science and technology has improved significantly; thereby, giving modern knowledge for today's living. Science and technology has also imposed all sorts of rules to reduce the divided world that used to exist some decades of years ago. Through ethics people shared the same goals and the same views, as well as have been able to interact internationally. More over, science and technology have digested alot of superstitious tendencies, which strongly influenced humanity in all forms, and contributed to the better, ethical world of today. The operation of two fishes, which again, resulted into war and alot of other poor behavior among kids, elders and old people, has been noticed. It has also driven in religion among humanity. In an ethical environment, we make friends and reduce racism very rapidly. Chauvinism is eliminated, and well-established gender equality has existed for decades now. Ethics on its behalf, has done a great deal, in accordance with what humanity today aspired to and deserve to achieve. Thus, there is no doubt that society has assisted and shown moral courage. The operation of two fishes I refer to is the astrologist doctrine stating that the past two thousands years has been the period of Piscean; and two thousand years before that was the period of Aries. Piscean is symbolized by two fishes swimming in opposing directions, which to me basically represents the separation of forces. As Caroline Myss says in one of her books, in the tribal consciousness, our power to choose is controlled by the group’s perception; we see what the group sees, believe what the group believes, love what the group loves and hate what the group hates. That is to say, one is blindly controlled by ethical rules and regulations without his or her awareness. One is not free from the group; one opposing the group has to suffer – that is where hatred begun, as well as war, racism and selfishness. In this other millennium, we are under Aquarian as our astrological guide, symbolized by air. Air but not wind; air which penetrates everywhere in its oneness. It is more likely to bring its lively, fresh and comfortable bliss, which will make our globe one village in which to live. Oneness among humanity will also be the goal: not physical, but inner oneness, which will be rooted in the mind - spiritually cultivated minds; it will make one economy, one home, and one goal. This spiritual achievement will bring clear mutual understanding among humanity. However, if it tries to make one religion, then letting it drop down will disturb the Aquarius growth, it will be difficult to survive in this environment, which would be akin to surviving in polluted air. The words also say that live wheat and the bushes will grow together, for the final separation will be done during harvesting time (as far as they are able to share nutrients). The purpose here is to go beyond religious concepts in order to achieve inner purity. Thus, John needs to be thought of here: is oneness therefore the goal? Is it not different from another goal that is not restricted by ethics? Our mind is unified: we experience one nature, which is pure and universal: not the purity opposed to dirty (it is too ethical), but genuine purity that needs no comparison in its nature. That’s why we can no longer scientifically called Homo sapiens such, but Homo noeticus. The “whys” need to be clearly explained. But now let’s look at John and the outcome of the ethical society. He learned nothing other than to obey. He knows how to be good, and he can only use knowledge to describe his life and his surroundings, thereby differentiating the good from bad and moral from immoral. He is ready to love his doll (weapon, machine, etc.) more than humanity; he sees them all as strangers. He is ready to kill and hate. How can he be fit then to qualify as a citizen in the global village? We cannot leave behind religion in the ethical environment. Religion emphasizes a great many things, and is still encouraging others to be more ethical. It has preached the knowledge to discriminate the evil from the good and the righteous from the unrighteous. If you want to be ethical, just join a religion. Every body enjoyed the existence of those two fishes that had acted professionally in the absence of the majority’s realization. We have seen neighbors who cannot share the same plate, just because they were religiously different. Thus, these ethical characteristics may contribute to the poisoning of the global energy, rather than assisting it to grow: turning global devices like the United Nations into sources of power to destroy, rather than a source of spreading harmony and peace. I remember when I used to stay in a religious seminary where ethics was preached daily in a repetitive manner, and its practice was encouraged. If you break any of the rules and regulations, you received severe punishment, and you were expelled if you broke a major one. However, to my surprise, no student was willing to abide by these rules, and everyone was just living in misery. Many a student, when they could not endure anymore, would just intentionally violate the rules to get freed from such miseries. Furthermore, out of their misery, they started acting in ways that were totally insane in comparison with the aforementioned world order. All things considered, we are fortunate enough that this ethical society has brought us such a bright and clear world, which still allow us to communicate on a global level. With open minds, we have to appreciate our ethical society. Ethic seems, or probably is, the mother of Abel and Cain - punishment and reward. All sorts of evil tendencies have been increasing; as much as humans are being forced to be ethical, they are forced to do evil. Just like the example of John; “John clean your room and sweep the surroundings! No sweeping equals no lunch!” He did not learn why he must follow the rules of his parents, and instead of following them, he started to oppose them. He grew up so wild - more dangerous than a lion. John was so ethical that he could kill his own family, growing up to live with his dolls as a shelter of his happiness and joy, since no human was his intimate friend. What did he do? He created a sex machine to suit his pleasure. He enjoys making love with it. The love taught by ethics; the love supposedly from one’s parents. John felt unsafe having his dolls with him, taking a gun, a knife, or a pistol to make sure he could deal nicely with h strangers, who could steal his only possessions away. John’s fellow human beings; his fellow global brothers and sisters were not his friends. Not only were they nothing close to his companions, but he deterred them further with the creation of more simplified weapons that dealt with enemies within minutes. What has become of John now? He is very, very miserable; he is walking naked in streets; he has been chased out of bed, just because he made a mistake. John is thus planning to make some money - just a little bit for his hunger thirst. He cannot make enough to afford additional clothes. And what did ‘mother ethics’ do? She does not care about him as long as he is able to buy his food and pay his tuition fees to the government (as they call it with their lovely attractive voice). Who is wrong then? We did not learn why the following rules and regulations are needed, so it is like being a captive in your own original land. The more ethical we become, the more violence and tragedy will result. We need to feel sorry for our brothers and sisters, who as a result of there anguish and discomfort, realized methods of releasing themselves, and ended up with an addiction to drugs, alcohol, sex, or commit suicide. We cannot blame either ‘mother ethics’; or Abel or Cain. Today we can do better than them; than John and his parents. We can do better! We can do better than what we have seen with John and his experiences. He needs freedom; not outside freedom but inside - that’s why he went on opposing the rules imposed on him purposely bye his ‘mother ethics’. We need to do better than this, for we have seen from John that he did not become a fully developed ethical human being. We need not rely on religion, or devices like the United Nations as a source of our freedom: for ethics is always there for us all to share its flourishing harmony and peace. Remember, we want freedom; and this freedom is not solely acquired from the outside world. We need to search for the purity within us, which transcends morals and ethics; thus, enabling us to grow not physically, but spiritually. Our natural consciousness must arise from dreaming; living is real, hatred is real, and so is delusion. We need to teach John why he should clean his bed and surroundings; not give him a doll, but natural, maternal love. Why replace this love with a doll? John’s eyes must be open to the fact that no human is a stranger, and never will any be if he learns how to cooperate (to be loving, compassionate and kindhearted - not only to human beings but to all living beings in their respective categories). John must be taught how to give to his friends, rather than selling his dolls. John must be taught the universal truth. He must be taught to overcome all of his fear so he can share his anguish with friends. Remember, John is naturally pure, but his purity can be disturbed as he by passes this ethical world; thus, why he needs to be able to think of “the whys” in life - it will allow him to maintain his purity and acquire wisdom, which will act as a helpful guide towards universal love. Just like the Buddha, Gotama asked why, and nobody could answer him. His inquiries made him embark on a journey of self-searching, where he obtained his goal: this is how he also succeeded in overcoming the follies of humanity. The focus of this ethical journey is to become aware of our consciousness, which denotes the pursuit of the deepest mystical insights, in combination with the freedom of rartionality. Thus, our aim will be building the aforementioned global village, with one leader, natural freedom. Jesus told us that we could be just like him; as he is the Son of God, so we can be as well. He explained how, but I cannot tell you here. Remember the saying; experience is a good teacher. It teaches a fool, like John - not ethics. We have experienced purity in our childhood days; it is not gone, but the knowledge that we have gained eclipses it. Nobody can re-establish this purity: only through oneself, not egoism, but self-remembrance, can one realize it. Spiritual understanding: this is what I believe will give us freedom - not spiritual knowledge. We require change in the first place. Fear need not be created in the already frightened minds of humanity; disclose to humanity the way to achieve this state of enlightenment; give them the right understanding; just like how ‘mother ethics’ dealt with the issue of HIV/AIDS - she said you can get it from unprotected sex, so use condoms for protection, but the best method of protection is to abstain from it. Thus, humans became aware of the issue. The same teaching method was used towards the traffic system. ‘Mother ethics’ said to drive safely on the roads to avoid accidents and inconveniences. Therefore humans became more aware of traffic safety. The same method of teaching must be utilized towards the in take of our food; with our relationships; with the inner self through the tendencies of our present interactions. Young people and adults needs to share ideas, creating a beneficial organization, with the aim of jointly understanding our inner creation. We have seen the production of a saying in the ethical society, which says that your greatest friend is your greatest enemy. We have lived with friends, but because we didn’t know ourselves, with time they turned into our enemies, just because we didn’t comprehend ourselves or them. It is better for us to make a saying that describes all forms of enemies and our intimate friends. We should not hate, but calmly and intimately share our understanding with regard to one objective. Parents need to eliminate the habit of cheating young people about the realties of life, and teach their children the reality of life. The earlier a child understands the ways of the world, the more experienced he/she shall become. Parents have a tendency of hiding some basic principles of life, and as a result, young ones are sheltered from reality. How possible will it be for children to believe the truth later than life? They will deny it. When young people and adults come together, a more empathetic and courageous society can be created. It is only then that a child can understand himself or herself spiritually: that he cannot imitate. I believe that is how children can be awakened; they can be free and live in freedom; they will be able to bear zebro, the Buddha - how OSHO calls that fortunate youth of our dreams. Slowly we will prosper in making our world a global village. « return. |
