Language as violence, violence as a language! That’s the topic for discussion. I ought to give my view on what I think about VIOLENCE and as a youth who is confronted with violence! One thing though comes to my mind when I think of this topic: we are all from the human race and therefore why all the hate?

Every single time I turn on the television set I see the Gaza Strip, Iraq and all these big problems that a suicide bomber has done, and this so so bad! Where is the world headed to? I simply fail to understand why mankind cannot just get the right kind of help they need by being together!

It just hit me the other day that my younger brother was doing something he had watched on television (i.e the World Wrestling Federation) and I just thought maybe Adolf Hitler was never restricted to seeing some things and therefore he had so much hatred within himself such that he decided that the only way of expressing himself was through waging war with the world.

All the time, we see these BIG shots, world leaders, signing treatises a million and one times. A recent example is in the Dafur region. How many treatises have been signed and nothing done and we still stand to say all that mankind needs is peace! Have a look at the writings on the wall of the UN in New York, I am sure that not many of you know what is even written there why because we are really not interested since it hasn’t proven to be worthwhile looking at it!

I think as a young person the violence I am exposed to every single day is just so much right from the house where my parents argue my siblings argue and when I get to my place of work and in college is just ABSURD. But this is not to say we can’t get a solution to all this! I believe that we, simply as young people, are responsible for bringing the change we very much need. Bush won’t do it, Blair won’t, Koffi won’t, Condoleezza won’t, Powell won’t, the Dalai Lama won’t, Prince Charles won’t, Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger won’t and the list goes on and on. We are responsible for changing that and we have to do it.

I always wonder what Americans think when they send all their youth to the war in Iraq in the name of patriotism and they come back home in body bags and now the nation weeps while when they left they were proud what use is it? I wonder what Israelis and Palestinians feel when they bomb at each other just because of a strip of land? What use is it? I wonder what a normal human being feels when he or she is told to kill all in the name of God and they will have everlasting life. Do you even think God will take side in war?

People it’s time we came together as a family! I wont spend my time justifying that violence has cost us so so many lives! Let’s not let it ruin the lives of our future generations. We can do it, the ball is in our court. "Peace."
