Hundreds of thousands who once lived on our lands in this region are gone forever wiped out by a wave in one very brief, unsuspecting moment, their families will never recover from this loss. They leave behind hearts that will never heal, emptiness that will never be filled, lives and communities will never be the same. In their wake only a silence so powerful, it is almost deafening now in the aftermath, painful stillness We are powerless in the wave of tragedy we cannot help in the relief efforts, we cannot hold the babies or hug the children we cannot comfort the people we cannot dig the graves, we can offer neither food or shelter we are too far away. Let us offer our time and energy, let us show strength in solidarity, let us offer silence in prayer, let us share respect for the dead, let us remember the innocent lives of babies and children, the old and the weak, they will never see the world through the same eyes. Let us mobilize ourselves into action, let us not stand in shock paralyzed Let us walk for the living and send help... they are waiting. « return. |
