Everything reminds me of you Printable Version PRINTABLE VERSION

I wonder what distance means to you
or what it can do to us
because the space between you and me
doesn't mean a thing if
i can just hear from you
and know you are doing okay

i see you all over the place,
everything i touch,
everything i feel,
everything i hear,
everything reminds me of you

everything i wear reminds me of you,
the white blouse at the hotel,
the red t-shirt to the park,
the one you said i was 15,
they all still smell of you...

i saved the green band from Horus,
from our first dance,
and the poster you signed
with your name in the center

if i pack you're there
if i unpack you're still there
everything just reminds me of you
regardless of what I do or do not do...

the pictures that we took remind me of you
i flip the pages and run them in my mind
remember the beige sandals we bought with the flower
in your favourite orange colour

i remember your fingers running through my hair
the tangles make me cry
cause they remind me of how you tried
so gently to brush my hair

the perfume you loved
my favourite lip gloss
heck, the bag you fixed
lying on my floor reminds me of you

when someone grabs my hand
i turn hoping it will be you
when the phone rings
i wonder if it's your voice I'll hear

everything reminds me of you
what we are and where we are at
just reminds me everyday
not to be afraid to love
and everthing worth having
is worth fighting for

Writer Profile
Shireen

Being an Indian living in Malaysia, I am proud of the culture that envelops me. There is so much in me that reflects a different art of living and the fundamentals of just being caught up in moments.
I am grateful to God, to the universe, to my parents, grandparents and family for preserving the traditions in me. With a world racing to be modern and sophisticated, simplicity and culture is a fading treasure, eroding with the birth of new-found philosophy.
I do not believe I am any of the better writers. There are so many more talented people around me that I admire and I aspire to learn a lesson or two. I write, simply, so that the universe that inspires me will be better appreciated. I write so that the unique culture, values and rich tradition that I have inherited will at its very least be known to you.
We are all here for fleeting moments and there is so much to be done in such a short time. Too much to see, too many people to love.
I thank you for flipping through this page and taking the time to look at my poem. If it touched you in anyway, I am grateful in more ways than you can imagine.... Thank you everyone and I wish you well.
