In the current state of the world today, in its appalling and degrading stance, there’s only so much one can do. In the sense of duty, patriotism or just general concern we are limited but only as far as we don’t accept our surroundings or what’s happening across the border.

One does not need to be a politician or a powerful businessman to know that poverty, hunger and disease ravage the vast continents especially the so called third world, a term that is highly controversial in itself. So to make it better they label them ‘developing countries.’

The point, however, is that in the current crisis of HIV/AIDS, of nuclear war and ever-growing financial debt you can still rise above it. All one has to do is look around. While many choose to moan and complain and others take active roles you may often ask, 'but what can I do?' We all can’t save the world; only Jesus was and is able to do that.

The answer lies in attitude. How you relate to the problems around you. Whether you ignore the roaming street kids or the long queues at health centers, whether you care about the lack of employment or the falling standards of education. It’s not all politics. If you can just look around and be aware, then you are on your way. Just sitting and talking and sharing common concerns, then you are playing your part. We weren’t all meant to be Florence Nightingales, Mother Theresas or Princess Dianas (notice that all three are female). Only a select few can fulfil such roles; the rest of us count on our ability to empathise and recognise humanity’s shortcomings.

It makes it easier if you believe in some kind of faith, and a strong one at that. Many choose to blame God for the wrongs on this earth but forget that their existence relies on his creating them. A standard purpose of the ordinary man, even the man on the street--just think about him and you are on your way to playing a role. At least you choose not to pretend and ignore like countless others.

Collective ideas and sharing is of vital importance. If we come together, whether formally or informally, and accept that there are things we can actively change and things we can only consciously change, then the world is already on its way. Let’s not lay the blame on the governments and global organizations. The basis on individual, for he makes a part of the whole. The infamous ripple effect: with you in the center. While many of the people in society take up key positions to implement policies, laws and regulations, it’s up to the vast majority to ponder upon how those predetermined decisions affect them whether they care or not. This effectively is where the challenge lies, especially for the youth of today as it has been said over and over that we are the leaders of tomorrow.

Therefore, we should not constantly complain of the lack of employment and opportunities. Rather, look around you. What hasn’t been done before? How many people do you see making a livelihood doing the littlest things?

So the final thing, really, is that it lies in the way you perceive things. How you feel, what you derive from what goes on around you and your opinion. This is the key to making a difference. That’s all, nothing spectacularly special.

belive in power of one, as long as every one does what ever they can to to contribute to the world as one, in the end it will benefit all of us. It all starts with one, and the we can move on to the next step, "all".
