So many stories were being told about the bad behaviour of the Fox that all animals decided that he must be brought to trial. So, they took him to the Lion who sat in the middle of all the animals as the judge. The Lion said, “Call the first witness”. “I am the first witness” said the Eagle. “We have heard these bad stories of the Fox and now I shall not repeat them here now. Bout what makes me angry is that Fox only attacks small animals that have no charges against him. He attacks chickens and rabbits. If he attacked an animal as big as himself it might be possible to forgive him but he always attacks small ones". The Lion said “thank you Mr. Eagle. Who is the next?" "I am, said the Spider, “I agree with my brother Eagle on every word he said and I want the court to know how cruel the fox is. The Fox is a coward and is afraid to hunt in the day; he waits until it is evening or dark. And he sets traps to catch the animals he wants to eat. Because of this and many other unmentioned atrocities of Mr. Fox, I think we should kill him." The Lion said, “Thank you Mr. Spider. Please call the next witness". "I am the next witness said the Cheetah,” I want the court to know that the Fox chases animals which are slower than himself. Chickens and ducks are so slow that he can easily catch them. He is a terrorist and has not been observing fairness when he is hunting." "Are there any more witnesses?” Asked the Lion. "No more witness,” said the Owl who is the presiding clerk of the court. “Well,” said the Lion, “we have heard many bad things about the fox and all these things may be true. For example, the Eagle said the fox attacks small animals, he does it himself all the time." The Lion continued. “The Spider tells us that the Fox sets traps to catch other animals so that he an eat them. He the spider is an expert in traps.” "And at the end the Cheetah said that the speed of the Fox made his hunting unfair. He said the Fox could run quickly. The Cheetah should know this because he is the fastest of the animals." Then the Lion stood up and said, “Ladies and gentlemen, I did not like the Fox anymore than you do. But I am not going to find him guilty on what is said by people who show the same bad trends and behaviour.” “Case Dismissed!” cried the Owl. The Fox went home free and all the animals went away thinking about what the Lion said. Is the above judgement just? Do Justice to it. Thank you. « return. |
