A detour the sleep seemed,
To escape the raging nightmare,
But it followed in pursuit,
Assailing me even more,
Being pinioned by them big books,
Was more than I bargained for,
It was okay in reality,
But in this unconscious paradise?
I couldn’t take it.
I hastened back to the nightmare,
To meet with fate and
The necessary nightmare that must pass,
Before the light in the horizon is seen.

I come alive when I write and the feeling that those few lines may impact positively on a soul unknown to me or even elicit a smile makes it a worthwhile endeavour.
