I used to walk. And when I say it, I mean I used to walk. I walked everywhere. Point A to Point B kinda stuff. I didn't care how far or rough the terrain, I walked it every time.

But it wasn't for the exercise and I wasn't interested in simply walking; for me it was the journey. Even if it was walking to the corner store, I loved every second of it because there was so much around me. I immersed myself in my surroundings and thought of nothing else. Where ever I was, I was right there in that place in that moment and it was amazing.

But one day I found myself walking but I wasn't immersed like I usually was. I wasn't taken in by my surroundings. I was simply walking; it was like I had stopped enjoying the journey.

Naturally, I began to worry. Had I become depressed and not noticed until now? Had I lost my joie de vivre? So I sat; I stopped walking right where I was and I sat on the curb.

I sat and I thought to myself what it could be. I wasn't depressed, I couldn't be. I was too chipper for that. I tried to think of things that were going on in my life. Nothing was wrong. Everything was going great! In fact, it was only recently that my life had gotten to a point where I felt productive, and accomplished, and...

And then it hit me. I hadn't lost my passion, I had found it. I had moved forward in my life. I wasn't going from Point A to Point B anymore, no, I was moving way past the landmarks and stores. My life had moved off the familiar streets and alleyways that held my attention so deep and I had begun to forge my own path. My mind was now constantly occupied with greater things. My mind was now focused on the future and the streets had become a way to move me forward.

At this point, I got up and started to walk again. I still took the time to look around and take in the scene but my sights were set farther. As I walked along I smiled knowing that the streets of my town no longer held me, but they had inspired me to find what I truly love and run (not walk) with it.
