Child Prostitution - A Global Menace Printable Version PRINTABLE VERSION

Human Rights , Child & Youth Rights   Opinions

In the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the United Nations has proclaimed that childhood is entitled to special care and assistance”, states the preamble of the convention on the Rights of the child. Regarding the importance of the family, it adds: “The child, for the full and harmonious development of his or her personality, should grow up in a family environment, in an atmosphere of happiness, love and understanding”. Yet this ideal is far from being achieved.

Just talking about a better world for children is not enough. Moral degeneration is rampant, and many people consider the situation normal. Widespread depravity and greed cannot be controlled by law enforcement. Even parent, rather than showing love and protecting their children, often contribute to the climate of permissiveness.

Despite the noble intentions of those who want to stop child prostitution, the problem is growing. Why do so many tolerate or even promote such criminal activity? Is what I can’t imagine?

I hereby call on the general public, influential personalities, government figures, educators, and the humanists, to devise means of putting an end to this barbarous crime that has eaten deep in the fabrics of our global world.

i agreed with your report, but i wanted to point something out. You failed to mention that this nasty situation occurs in the USA as well. I am commited to put an end to it, but one person cannot do all. It is a global problem which needs global action.
