“He lived a full life. He was the definition of a true blessing to humanity. His life has affected and changed the lives of so many. He made lots of people that had no hope in life to have a hopeful life. He was a husband to the widows, a father to the orphans, and a friend to the destitute. His qualities were so exemplary”. These are some things we hear when the lives of some notable individuals are celebrated. What has made these people to be notable and celebrated, it is not because they are super-humans, but just one thing separates these people from the ordinary people that walk the streets everyday. They have dared to make use of their qualities to better their lives and that of others. Every human created in this world is a solution to somebody else.
Just as the entrepreneur is a solution to the jobless, the committed a worker a solution to his employer, the committed teacher a solution to those that want to get educated, so is the purposeful politician and leader a solution to his community. We as humans can not be this solution if we do not use our qualities to better our lives and the lives of others. The best way a man can make the most of his qualities is use it for the good of humanity.
We have lots of problems around the world these days that we tend to wonder where the world is going to. Most of the problems we have are due to the fact that some people have either done some things badly or some people have failed to do the right things.
We have war and starvation in Africa, terrorist attack in parts of the world, poverty and other related problems. These problems exist because some people preferred using their qualities to the detriment of the human race.
We should come to the realization that we are meant to help make this world a better place for everybody, by helping each other in achieving our aims and objectives. We have different qualities in us that can help solve the problems in the world; it is just for us to be thinking of how we can make others happy with what is in us.
Let’s give instances where people have used their qualities wrongly; we see these effects in a place like Africa. There is starvation, poverty, sickness, diseases, war in some parts of the continent. It is not because these problems can not be solved, but that even while some countries on the continent are blessed, there are problems of leadership and the management of resources. The basic aim of most of the leaders in various parts of Africa tends towards selfishness and lack of focus. These leaders care about what they want to get than think of using their leadership qualities to help solve the problems in their land. They loot resources meant for millions of people for their personal use, these cause their countries to be poorer. The effect of these are youths getting involved in criminal activities, getting recruited to join rebel movements; some of which cause havoc on the people they claim they are fighting for. Some other effects are people not getting paid their salaries and emoluments, funds not being pumped into the economy to create jobs, depleted infrastructures, no social amenities. The cumulative effects of all these will cause hunger in some families, their children will dropping out of schools. These will not guaranty a good future for these children thereby making the future of these countries bleak. All these come up because some people refused using what they have rightly. We can now see what some actions can cause a whole lot of people. If we will come to realization that it is important that the qualities in us, be used positively. If used to bring joy and happiness to people lives, it will bring about development, peace around the world.
Let’s give instances where some individuals have esteemed themselves and are celebrated by using their qualities positively. Nelson Mandela is a man of great high regard and value, fought for the freedom of his country from apartheid. His estimable values he used to win this battle, right now he is celebrated around the world. His value could have been responsible for South Africa winning the 2010 world cup bid. Abraham Lincoln, the American president that showed great leadership qualities even during America’s most trying times as a nation. Winston Churchill, some say he is the greatest Briton that ever lived, his purposeful leadership helped Britain survive the German onslaught during the world war. Mother Theresa, that woman that devoted her life to helping people in Asia, no wonder when she died, lots of people celebrated her life. These people are celebrated worldwide and receive lots of accolades from lots of organizations; they will not regret using their qualities to help humanity.
These are just few people that have used there qualities to serve humanity. We have lots of people in different parts of the world that are making the most of their qualities; they are making efforts to see that they affect the lives of others.
