As descendants of Africans, it is a great wonder that African Americans have done little or nothing at all to help fight the various socioeconomic ills afflicting the African continent. Though many may argue that they are no longer African citizens, a lot of questions still remain unanswered as to their negative attitude and disregard for their mother continent. It is sad to notice that many of them would rather export pervasive music and videos to Africa, which have directly and indirectly contributed to the obscene spread of HIV/AIDS and decadent morals. Black Americans are sacrificing Africans at the altar of selfishness, egoism and greed instead of participating in its positive development.

Sadly, many have joined in the wholesale condemnation of Africa as a dark continent. Whilst recognizing their ability and capability to invest in Africa and help in its forward economic growth, it is instructive that due to their illusionary racial neuralgia towards Africa, many of them are yet to accept that their ancestors actually came from Africa. Gone are the days when civil rights activists like Malcolm X and Martin Luther King expressed their distaste for the looting of Africa’s resources by colonial powers. Instead, today’s black Americans are plundering Africa’s morals.

With the exception of a few, among them notaries such as Harry Bellafonte, many black Americans today do not care to visit, nay to speak equivocally on the problems affecting Africa generally preferring to refer to them as Africa’s darkness. The rate of drug abuse among the African youth is escalating, the deaths due to HIV/AIDS rising, the rate of sexual immorality skyrocketing, lack of respect for parents growing among many other decadent and negative societal values. These are fuelled by the perverted music videos, explicit music lyrics, pornography and other rot exported mainly by black Americans to Africa.

Watching television programmes has become a living nightmare for African parents, as they have to put up with morally derelict black American comedies and music videos in the presence and full glare of their young children. Black Americans such as Calvin Broadus, Sean Combs, among many millions of others have continued to spout rotten audiovisual garbage, falsely labelled entertainment, to Africa as the continent receives moral, cultural and physical bereavement, which spells doom for its manpower and youth.

It is no secret that young and upcoming African musicians ape the decadent violence and amorality heavily exhibited by black Americans in their music only to succumb sooner or later to HIV/AIDS, drug abuse and addiction. The flood of pornographic videos and music from black Americans that is currently sweeping through the African continent leaving many young African casualties cannot be ignored. When will the majority of the culturally deluded black Americans ever wake up to the reality that Africa really is their mother continent? Many of their musicians would rather rip off Africans through musical concerts rather than give anything meaningful back to Africans.

On the global front, Indian Americans, big players in the American Silicon Valley, are going back to invest generously in their Indian subcontinent. The same can be said of the Chinese and Koreans who continue to remain patriotic and dedicated to the service of their countries and continents despite being American citizens. In as much as cynics may view this as a jeremiad against the black Americans, it is a fact that they have disgraced the African continent.

A glimpse at the debauched, lewd and brainless literature of black Americans like James Baldwin and the amoral, mindless music from many other black Americans clearly befits the so called ‘axis of evil’, orchestrated to bomb and deplete the socio-moral fabric of the African society. Indian writers such as V.S. Naipaul for example, would rather bash other countries and continents but not India where they originated from and for which they have love and hold in high esteem. The same cannot be said of black American attitude towards Africa.

Many have tried to attribute the black American-Africa problem to the academic status of the black Americans arguing that only a handful of them endeavour to step through the corridors of reasoning and lecture halls preferring to gauge their knowledge from ‘politicians’ such as Louis Farrakhan. This cannot be an excuse though and in any case, a substantial number of black American scholars today reign in different echelons of the global society.

Even as the black Americans continue to celebrate such days as the Black History Month, a lot still remains to be done and seen to be done in regard to their attitude towards Africa and the native Africans at that. How can they claim to have a black history if the very crux and cornerstone of their history is baulking under amoral burden and decadence purveyed by them? With many still holding the belief that Africa is one big forest with people who live in caves and trees, it is a wonder then why continue to export rot and decadence to these cave dwellers rather than expertise, investments, and knowledge.

Many African Americans are a disgrace to Africa and will still remain so if they don’t change their attitude towards their mother continent. Let them know that history has a tendency of repeating itself. Let them keep in mind the fact that history records their morally, socially and psychologically benign contribution to HIV/AIDS increase, escalation of drug abuse and addiction, breakdown of morals and decadence in Africa. Never will that be rubbed off the annals of history.
