I pass by the golden fields
And the trees all lush and green,
I feel the wind slapping my face,
And the bright sun burning my skin.
A mighty river flows beneath the bridge,
With birds and beasts basking in its waters,
And I feel the pleasure and pain of
Viewing my motherland in such close quarters.
Pleasure in her mountains,
Pleasure in her clear blue skies,
But pain in the sight of my fellow-beings
Lost in their unheard cries.
Cries for the need of help and understanding,
As they struggle through their years,
Barely sustaining on their daily bread
And watering their fields with their tears.
All they need is a little support,
And knowledge as their helping hand,
Then soon our nation's dreams will be reality,
And so will be heaven on land.
We can be their teachers,
We can teach them all we know,
They are the roots of our nation's progress,
And only they can help it grow.
I hope we all will put in our best efforts
To make equality and progress a reality for all our fellow-men,
So that the next time I walk on my Mother?s chest
I won't have to feel any pain again.
