I just recently got home from a ten day adventure to Egypt. It was really sad seeing all the young vendors everywhere. It really puts how young people are having to drop out of school to work to support their families in perspective. Unfortunately, there has been so much damage as a result of various riots that the tourist industry has been hurt to the detriment of the many kids' livelihood that depends on selling merchandises to tourists. The picture I've attached is of the area near the Great Pyramids of Giza & the Sphinx. A lot of young kids were there, trying desperately to sell there goods. We passed by a girl selling postcards who was there from the early morning to quite late at night. It was shocking. « return. |
