The Smile Printable Version PRINTABLE VERSION
by Reality, Nigeria Apr 27, 2004
Environment   Poetry

Never had to search for it,
For ever present it waited.
It didn’t have to be formed,
It had always been there since time,

So infectious was the smile,
That the devil would return it.
Untainted by deceit or pretence.
It could only come from the heart.

That smile was made for the face.
It wouldn’t fit on another.
With a dentition specially made for it.
Surely the creator had been partial.

Many would a million give for it,
A good many would pay to witness it,
Refuge to a weary and waning soul,
Angry hearts melt before it.

Truly the smile is worth having,
But worth more when shared,
For it doubles it and unifies,
The all of life, the giving and sharing.

I come alive when I write and the feeling that those few lines may impact positively on a soul unknown to me or even elicit a smile makes it a worthwhile endeavour.
