The heroes were passionate people in motion. They starred down double barrow shotguns of death and did not flinch.
With their feet deeply rooted in the moral high ground they vowed to change the course of the day. Armed with the knowledge of their past, they were steadfast in their vision of a equal and brighter future for the world.
The heroes had unwavering faith, humble hearts and patience. They marched down racists streets and sang "We Shall Overcome". For public equality their skin burned from fire hoses of hate in downtown Birmingham, but they continued to sing: "And We Shall Not Be Moved".
Their reward was in knowing that their fight was righteous and they shared with the world their plight.
They were not alone. Indeed, today we have the opportunity to join them because of the dedication and resolve of yesterday's unrecognized heroes.
Together we can shape the world into a more peaceful and positive place for all.
The heroes will never be forgotten.
