I come from Uganda, and this country of about 32 million people is located in East Africa.
Presidential elections in this country take place after every five years.
On 18th of February 2011, Uganda is going to hold presidential elections and around 7 candidates are aspiring for this post. Those aspiring include Mr.Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, Dr. Kizza Besigye, Mr. Bidandi Sali, Mrs. Betty Kamya, Dr. Olar Otunu, Mr. Abed Bwanika and Mr. Norbert Mao. The president in power now is His Excellency Yoweri Kaguta Museveni and he has been in power for the past twenty five years. However, after the Egyptian and Tunisian experience, most Ugandans are looming in fear of the outcomes of the forthcoming elections. Mubarak of Egypt was in power for thirty years. So the Ugandans are silently wondering to themselves if president Museveni will go through for yet another presidential term.
Ugandans want a change because of the various problems the country is facing especially because of the present government. The common issues include corruption, high unemployment levels, poverty, poor education and poor infrastructure, just to mention a few.
Well, elections are a day away and all Ugandans are simply hoping for the best because change is necessary in this third world country.

I am Elsa Naiga aged 24 and I live in Uganda. Presently I'm working with BasicNeeds UK in Uganda an organisation that helps mentally ill persons. We give them treatment and medication. Most of the patients are poor persons.
Working with these people has helped me develop the passion to advocate for their rights and speak for them because their rights are violated and they are stigmatised.
Most of the articles which I will be writing will be centred around this area because of the passion I have developed in helping out this group of vulnerable persons.
