At this dagger-point,
Am none but indigent.
JAMB has jammed again!
Now three years of no gain.

First, I played careless
While a season flew by.
Next, I prayed less,
There another rolled by.
This third but strong focus,
Why is another rolling by?

Have I soiled a beggar's garri?
Have I stolen in a hurry?
Have I laughed a blind witch?
Have I made any a ditch?

Why this reprimand rain
Of reproach and stain?
Why this gloom and pain
Draining my sweat in vain?
Better this a gleam
That I arise, it's but a dream.

« return.
