Peace & Conflict   Poetry

Missiles spiral overhead,
Their now dull explosions integrating
With the patterned clicks of guns,
And the insidious crackle of hidden land mines
Enfolding in a column of death and smoke
Its petrified prize.

The symphony of sounds
Seamlessly morphing
Into a ridiculous melody:
One of laments and agony,
Its harsh sounds
Imbuing the shredded landscape
With a nightmarish quality.

My tortured senses protest,
Their cries of indignation lost
Amidst the clamour of soldiers,
Rigid in place,
Their minds and bodies slowly succumbing
To the inevitability of death.

All previous remnants of glory,
Of patriotism- gone,
Obliterated by the incessant screaming
Of the battlefield.
This is what war is like.

Writer Profile
Robbie

I am a 13 year old boy working to become an author. My love of writing surfaced when I was about 7, and my ambition to become an author has grown and so has my writing (I hope), I feel that writing is the easiest and the most satisfying way to express myself and that words are one of the most precious things, and to stretch them to their very limits, use them in unique ways, is the most expressive form of media. I aspire to one day master this intricate, beautiful language and use them in more creative, wonderful ways. I would greatly appreciate any tips or constructive criticsm on my work, especially from a current or former author. I would recommend writing to anyone looking for an enjoyable hobby or career, and you might be surprised, everyone has a different style of writing, and if you think yours is only average, it might actually be brilliant.

There's something the world has not yet been able to deny about age... for a twelve year old boy (if really), it's a good poem but is you work by a witness or a reporter?

It is 100% complete me

It's all me, I think that copying work or plagiarism is detestable and should not in any way be endorsed. I love writing, and have been working hard in competitions and just for fun.
