Peace & Conflict   Poetry

The world is full of contradictions
With two sides to everything.
We wait to hear predictions
That in our life, we will have everything

What about those who have much less
Their life seems to be in such a mess
It is sad we feel only pity
When we should really feel empathy

I want to do something about it,
Do something about it today
And not wait for the next person
To act on it, on some other day

We think we have no power, We are not responsible
We are selfish & greedy, It is understandable
Poverty, bribery, illiteracy, unemployment & corruption
We don't have to raise a voice, It is no compulsion

We think we have done enough, but no one's there to hear
But if we can’t hear ourselves, why expect someone else to hear
If we can’t stand up for someone else's cause,
Why expect someone to fight for our cause?

Every drop makes an ocean,
Many voices make commotion
I want to make a difference, for at least one man
And need no other reason, but only because I CAN

I want to do something about it
Do something today,
And not wait for the next person
To act on it, on some other day.
