Writer Profile
Paddy Eshiet

Recently, Paddy O. Eshiet was asked, who are you? He reply saying; “when we talk about me, I am who I am. A Prince, an Author, a Royal Rangers, an activist, an active youth and a believer. I happen to belong to a respectable background. My father married three wives and I am the first male, making me the eight child of my father out of fifteen lovely children.
I am proud to be an indigene of Mkpanak—Ibeno (popularly known as Qua Iboe Terminal [Q.I.T]) the downtown oil city of Akwa Ibom State.”
Paddy resolved to impact and affect peoples’ life positively with his caring and kind attitude, he has achieved much just like any other man could. With his deep concern for humanity, he join the ROYAL RANGERS—a Paramilitary Organization with difference. He always inspires his friends and those that come in contact with him, leaving them empowered to achieve their wildest dreams. As an initiator, Paddy founded a group called “De SUPREME SOLIDARITY ASSOCIATION (DSSA),” a Non Governmental Organization (NGO) with the view to reinventing the society beginning from Mkpanak—Ibeno.
In a survey conducted by “THE DELIGHT MAGAZINE” tagged; Paddy, how do you rate him and his vision?
A. Is he really the golden boy who’s destined to change Ibeno?
B. Is he a good initiator but lack confidence?
C. Is he a down-trodden who has recovered from the mercy of this life and seeking green pasture?
D. No comment.
The vote count 79.6%, 10.3%, 4.2%, 5.9% respectively. When he was ask of his view about the status of things in his community, he said, “I’ve been to the nooks and crannies of Ibeno and I have seen poverty in its stark reality, people live in squalor, they don’t know when the next meal will come. You see frustration, hunger and anger etched on peoples’ faces, just because successful governments have shortchanged and abandoned them. Our youths who represent the future of Ibeno and the world at large, are roaming the street without job.
I am insisting that “the situation in Ibeno must change for the better.” It is unacceptable that in a land flowing with milk and honey, a land that feed the nation, the second oil richest place in Nigeria, a greater percentage of the populace are wallowing in abject poverty even as those entrusted with the common-wealth live in opulence. It is time for this Area to experience real leadership; we need leadership that is on the side of the people. De Supreme Solidarity Association is championing the call for ethical revolution and reawakening of every Nigerian consciousness, whether at home or in Diaspora, on the urgent need to salve this Local Government Area call IBENO. We are creating awareness and we intend to sustain the tempo in creating awareness on the need for Ibeno’s to DEMAND A NEW DEAL FROM THE LEADERS. We will keep prompting our people to forsake the old ways and embrace new ways that will reposition our beloved country in the commit of nations. THIS IS A TASK THAT MUST BE ACCOMPLISHED.
In DSSA, we have been able to find our niche in humanitarian work to the extent that we go to the streets to feed, cloth and generally offer succor to destitute, drug addicts, street urchins among other rejected people of the society”.
I found myself fortunate to write about a friend, a brother, a mentor and a genius like Paddy. He is organized, efficient, and extremely competent and has an excellent rapport with people of all ages. He enhances his influence by being trustworthy. That includes; keeping his word, treating people with respect and valuing their inputs. His communication skills, both written and verbally are excellent. Paddy does what he feel is right and—perhaps more importantly—do as he say he will do.
Rather than blaming others, he openly admit mistakes, live with the consequences and commit himself to doing better by taking ownership of problems and correcting them. By doing so, he show people (especially his friends and associates) that mistakes should not be feared or covered up but are instead critical to an individual learning and professional growth. Paddy is a young visionary who believes in his abilities. I found him to be consistently pleasant, tackling all activities with dedication and smile. Besides this, Paddy is a take-charge person who is able to present creative ideas and communicate the benefits. He lives by example and many people find his enthusiasm and dedication both inspiring and motivating.
He is an exceptional young man. Most everyone knows of his lofty ambitions and kindness. Paddy is just fun to be with.
