The word “perdition” is defined in the Webster’s New World Dictionary, fourth edition, as Hell, or the loss of one’s soul- in other words, persons whose souls are destined for Hell or who have fallen into the pathway of damnation, by going contrary to the Word of God. In the Holy Bible, the word Perdition is mentioned on several occasions. The rationale of this article is to explore the purpose of the sons and daughters of perdition in this world we live in and how they came to be.
Christians believe that the Bible is the foundational blueprint for existence and the guidelines that must be followed to live holy lives in the sight of God.
Throughout the ages, in Biblical history, many curses were placed on people by God for doing wrong, beginning with Cain for killing his brother Abel. These curses were passed down through the generations and are still with us today being perpetrated through the sons and daughters of perdition, e.g. hatred, jealousy and many more negative immoral acts shown towards our neighbors and against the will of God. Because of these various acts, God turned many people over to a perverse and reprobated mind according to the book of Romans, chapter 1 verse 28.
The mindset of one fallen prey to “Perdition” is not only seen in persons who may have fallen in a generational curse but also to persons who are born again Christians who were chosen by Jesus Christ himself. For example Judas, one of the twelve disciples betrayed his master and Peter, another disciple denied Him. This same evil is falling on many Church leaders today. Sons and daughters of Perdition are found in all sectors of society. One would wonder why they exist. The answer is simple; the word of God must be fulfilled. This can be seen in the book of St. John, chapter 17 verses 11-12, “And now I am no more in the world, but these are in the world, and I come to thee. Holy Father, Keep through thine own name those whom thou hast given me, that they may be one, as we are. While I was with them in the world, I kept them in thy name: those that thou givest me I have kept, and none of them is lost, but the son of perdition; that the scripture might be fulfilled.”
As Christians continue to endure the daily tragedies of ungodly acts, violent and none violent, committed by the hands of the sons and daughters of perdition in the world before the coming of the Lord, we are admonished by Jesus to take heed, watch and pray. St. John chapter 16 verse 33 states, “These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.” However as Christians we are to be concerned for their souls as written in the book of Luke chapter 23 vs. 34, “Then said Jesus, Father forgive them; for they know not what they do…” These words were spoken as He was being crucified on the cross innocently.
One of the most detrimental features to human existence is “freedom.” This “freedom” has caused many to fall by the wayside into the pathways of destruction. The moral fiber of the world is decaying daily with the prophesied word of God coming to pass. He gave us a special condition to go contrary to what he has said. This can be found in the book of 2nd Chronicles, chapter 7, verse 14: “If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.” According to this, God in his infinite wisdom knows that the hearts of men and woman are evil and are willing to go after their own personal lust. Only the faithful few will continue to walk in his footsteps.
A lust for prosperity has blinded many persons, including Christians. Reference to this is found in 1st Timothy, chapter 6, verses 9-10 which clearly state, “But they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and perdition. For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.” Verse 11 goes on to state, “But thou, O man of God, flee these things; and follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love patience, meekness.”
My brothers and sisters in Christ, as we continue to suffer persecution at the hands of the sons and daughters of perdition until the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, let us be encouraged by the words written by the apostle Paul in 2nd Thessalonians, chapter 2, verses1-4 which state, “Now we beseech you brethren, by the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and by our gathering together unto him, that ye be not soon shaken in mind, or be troubled, neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by letter as from us, as that the day of Christ is at hand. Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition; Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshiped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, showing himself that he is God.”

Writer Profile
Roderick R. Mckenzie Sr.
I am a writer in Nassau, Bahamas and I feel that my work is good enough to go to the world market. To the world, my writing may seem to be secular and opinionated but, all of my work is divinely inspired by God with Biblical references to prove it. My goal is to teach as many people about Christianity as possible. As a freelance writer I would also like some exposure to the writing market and a possible job as a Christian writer on the Internet.
