Kiryat Arba' - the difficulties of peace between Israelis and Palestinians
“Kiryat Arba'” is not the only settlement that has affected life in Hebron, There are nine settlements, which are considered part of Hebron. They are Karmel, Ma'on, Ashkolot, Beni Hever, Asbar, Susia, ‘Ataneel, Hagai and Karmitsoor. Moreover, there are four Jewish enclaves in the heart of the city, and their names are Talrmede, Bethadasah (which was a Palestinian area called Daboyah), Betromano (which was a Palestinian school called Osama Ben Al-Monqez) and a small enclave near Beit-Hadash. All of these enclaves were established after 1980.

What make these enclaves special and contribute to more suffering is the daily attrition between the settlers and the Palestinians because they life side by side, but not peacefully. “We can't move whenever we want to and we cannot have fun at night because it is dangerous to go back home at night,” Faisal Abu-Hadid, a 16 year old Palestinian youth living near Bethadasah told the PEARL reporter. “During the last incident between the settlers and me, one of them tried to shoot at me wile I was coming back home at the night,” he responded when asked about some of his personal experiences.

Hebron will remain an important part of life for Palestinians and Jews. Both groups live in tension nowadays, but it is possible for them to live together peacefully, and to share the love of the land. If one argues that this is not so, then why not?
