Peace & Conflict   Poetry

Calmly in silence, he sits and ponders,
unattached from this world, letting his mind wonder.
It takes him to a place he doesn’t want to go,
a place filled with sorrow he doesn’t want to know.
And as he dwells through the halls of this mystic space,
he sees only darkness surrounding his days.
Confused as a mouse trapped in a burning maze,
chased by nightmare memories unable to be erased.
But on and on he goes, constantly he must face,
The battles he once fought each and every day.
He tried to find some peace and rest away from the fights.
But they keep on haunting him every day and every night.
Broken thoughts, a broken mind…that does not mend,
The battle of a soldier never seems to end.
