It is an unfortunate scenario that what is obtainable in the world today regarding the HIV/AIDS is an application of rhetoric’s. People have perfected their acts of oratory and their good use of semantics with the issue of AIDS. Funny enough this killer disease is taking the lives of so many on a daily basis.
Once upon a time, malaria fever (or fever if you like) was a killer sickness. It was dreaded just as the HIV/AIDS pandemic is today. It killed so many to the extent that people could no longer live with it. And sooner than expected, researchers swung into action in order to end the killer of malaria fever. In no distant time the first cure for fever, which is Quinine, was produced. However, it was soon detected that the Quinine had grave side effects. And immediately too, researchers again embarked on means of finding better alternatives. This exercise had continued over time and the result today is that a person sick of fever can walk into a pharmaceutical store and be left with so many options of the malaria fever drug, he can take.
Similarly, when the Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS) started killing people in China, many had thought that China’s population problem was going to be negatively solved. Researchers now have history to vindicate them because sooner than expected the cure for SARS was found.
However regarding HIV/AIDS, the situation is different. A lot of money is usually voted for such conferences. With so many talks on how contraction of the pandemic can be avoided. Interestingly, you find governments voting so much for such talks. Even non-governmental organizations keep cropping up everyday and a lot of money is made after the lectures. Therefore you find government officials using their powers to float NGOs using some people for cover-up purposes and at the end of the day, the money realized are shared between them and the man living with HIV/AIDS lives and dies with it.
What we have not however pondered on is the fact that there are cries all over the place by some people that they have cure for this pandemic.
And instead of the governments of African countries (for instance) giving this people the chance to prove themselves; they are condemned out rightly by their own people.
In the last George Bush visit to some Africa countries (including Nigeria), he promised African leaders the sum of $15 billion for assistance on the issue of HIV/AIDS.
This money, once disbursed will be used for more seminars, symposium or lectures. This makes me wonder if this is not an attempt to depopulate the continent cruelly and at all cost.
One thing is certain and that is the fact that if the AIDS pandemic was prominent in the US or Britain for instance, there would have been a solution ever since. But as it is not, then any other person can be lectured about how he or she is going to die. If the case of SARS was treated like the issue of AIDS surely only heavens can imagine what the situation would have been like in China at this moment.

All the current happenings in Africa leave one wondering what kind of leaders Africa possesses. Even the US president has not hidden his feelings as to the kind of leaders Africa has.
Rounding up his visit in Africa, President George Bush made a very remarkable statement. After addressing a cross-section of dignitaries of Nigerian leaders and those of other countries including that of the US that graced the occasion, President Bush rounded up by saying “God help Africa and God continue to bless America”.
Knowing the kind of leaders that abound in Africa, one can say for sure that no African leader gave that statement any serious thought. And the reason cannot be far fetched. It is obvious that most of African leaders are not educated and intelligent enough to decipher the meaning of such strong prayers. And even in cases when some of them are educated, they are too busy with the thought of how to divert public funds that they cannot focus on reality.
Trust me I am certain about this, I am pretty sure that when President Bush announced the US’ willingness to share that $15billion to some African countries to help fight HIV/AIDS, these leaders would by that time be thinking of the largesse that will accrue to them.
