African Diamond

like the water in a channel
you walk ever so gracefully
over the sharpest rocks, you tame their contours
into smooth diamonds that are valuable
and a marvel to hold...

i was a lonely rock in the river before
a warm touch turned me into a sparkling diamond
well not a diamond to watch or to wear,
i would say a diamond to keep…

as you wake up in morning light
the glimmer transpires through the spectacle
revealing a glare of rare beauty
beauty beyond the eye
but the heart...

I watch you every morning
As you come from the river
The river that shaped you to what you are
A diamond, a beauty, a treasure.
