Human Rights   Poetry

Peace is snoring
Enmity is reigning
Freedom degrades
Autocracy is exalted
Violence is synonymous

In my country
Justice is limited
Poverty is the victor
Famine is sine qua non
And killings are necessary

In my country
Democracy is in confusion
Politicians are criminals
Illiterates are leaders
While graduates are slaves

In my country
Child abuse is necessary
Future of youths is in doom
Youths engaged in illegal deals
Because no one cares for them

In my country
Cruelty is important
Money is the savior
Deception is embraced
Honesty can kill

In my country
Hungry politicians are ruling
The president is sleeping
And hangs a “do not disturb” sign
Just by his door

In my country
No one dares challenge
The power that be
And everyone knows
That silence is precious.

Writer Profile
Adeyemi Adisa

When I examine myself, I see writing as the only way to express my thoughts and have been wasting no time, however little, in ensuring that I express myself. This is an inspirational thought, potentially instilled in each and everyone of us, but the ways we express ourselves is the difference. I hope to meaningfully make use of most of my time and positively share my thoughts with others. You can check out my site (www.yemmmmy.co.nr) for more of my articles and poems.

I am i support of your comment. That is our country for you. But think Big good things can easily come from you too. So what ever little you can do in your environment do it.

The being of Nigeria--I mean Nigeria's future lies in the hands of Nigerian youths of today, leaders of tomorrow. We shall make it a better place!
