March 19, 2008 Ms. Mother Earth Lakes, Streams, and Mountains of this World Planet Earth Dear Ms. Mother Earth, Please find this letter in response to your complaint submitted March of 2007 regarding Canada’s current lack of involvement in the issue of climate change. Unfortunately, the Government of Canada at this time has no interest in the socialist scheme of which is deemed climate change. At this time we are kindly asking that you give this government the opportunity to declare to the people of the Universe that Canadians as a whole are not encouraged at any given time to be environmentally conscious. Reducing greenhouse gas emissions, as you suggested prior, would no doubt result in a lack of progressive policy on our part. Conversely, the main concern of the Canadian Government does not lie in environmental policy such as the Kyoto Accord. The extensive world wide evidence from leading environmental scientists strongly suggests that climate change is critical to conserving our society. However, excess carbon dioxide gases at the current emission levels are essential to the existence of life. A prosperous and pro-industrial Canada would no doubt suffer from the loss of employment and real economical benefits that are already provided to other industrialized countries such as China, Russia, and India. As Canada being a leading oil producer from our western provinces, Alberta and Saskatchewan, it is our position, that the Kyoto Accord would initiate a detrimental downfall in Canadian economy. Please accept my deepest apologies, as environmentalists no longer play a key role in assisting this country to achieve its goals and meet its priorities—being those that commence an exceptional quality of life for wildlife and families alike. However, at this current time, policy does not pertain to the environmental issues recently presented. We thank you for your concern at this time. Regards, The Rt. Hon. Stephen Harper, P.C., M.P. Prime Minister of Canada March 22nd, 2008 Steve Harper Prime Minister of Canada Langevin Block Ottawa, Ontario K1A 0A2 Steve, It’s called global warming; the term “climate change” simply acts as a euphemism. You’re kidding me, right? Honourable—come on! Do they put that on your paychecks too? The Accord is not a socialist scheme, but rather a socialist discovery, a work of perfected well planned ideas which were formed to create a treaty supported by the most prestigious environmentalists and scientists worldwide. Kyoto was sanctioned by myself; created to make Canada a little greener, and help those poor polar bears! What goes around comes around (karma, stupid). Don’t come complaining to me when those polar ice caps start melting and your snowmobile trails wither away! You Conservatives don’t know anything about science. And no Steve, political science ISN’T science, bud. Yeah, CO2 is great, eh! We should all just try to breathe in as much as we can! NOT! Canada may be well-to-do, but who really cares about Alberta? They’ve got enough cash to last them for quite a long time—lay off the oil business, you’re polluting the air! For goodness sake, big brother George Bush doesn’t know everything! Has the rejection of the Kyoto Accord been a product of the old game, ‘Canada see, Canada do?’ Reducing emissions by six percent is really not as difficult as it sounds. You’re telling me that you’re going to let the Russians show they care more about their country than Canada does about theirs? Mr. Harper, being the humble, merciful, sustainer of life that I am, I will accept your apology, for now. Hear me out—if you really want a healthy, clean country, reduce your emissions, and become a little greener. Stop being so stubborn! Hey…If I can convince Monaco to ratify the accord, I can convince you Harper. Your nurturing Greek goddess, Gaia / Mother Earth « return. |
