It was the 1960s, The years that brought change across Africa, The years of great promises, Of hope, of change, of independence. More than four decades after, Africa is wallowing in dread, In hopelessness, in corruption. Change seems to have eluded her And there is darkness now In the horizon. Africa has lost her youth And time is no longer on her side. The seeds of hope have borne no fruits. Should hope and change be reborn For independence anew? But the wave of change will come By the toils of our heroes now, The vanguards of today, hope of tomorrow The change that has never come. The youth of our generation Reclaim the promise denied. « return. |
