Out I crept
To keep a date
with nature
Where destiny awaited

There they were
Two shimmering golden yellows
Each punctured by
a speck of nite

Seconds . . . minutes
They assumed form
Head . . . lips
Frontal mounds . . . limbs

Lust . . .
I gazed
With fear and wonder

Arms became wings
Fangs exposed
Claws six inches
Eating up the distance
Towards a dreaded encounter

Flight to safety
My limbs refused to obey

Rigid? . . . flappy??
Dripping hot liquid???
Whooosh!!!
It was just a nightmare

« return.
