Passionately Speaking and Advocating for Kenyan Youths Printable Version PRINTABLE VERSION
by VICTOR RASUGU, Kenya Sep 7, 2007
Health , Human Rights   Short Stories

Passionately Speaking and Advocating for Kenyan Youths Young women are especially vulnerable to HIV infection compared with young men; 5.2% of women aged 15-24 are HIV-infected, compared with 1% of men of the same age group. Despite the reported decreases, the magnitude of the epidemic in Kenya is even more evident.

The needs, opportunities and challenges facing the youth are concerns for the whole society. For holistic development of young people, which includes physical, social and spiritual aspects, we must all re-double our efforts to create awareness on the rights of young people and importance of sexual education through sensitization at various forms, consensus building, and identification of priority needs for action and dissemination of correct and consistent information. We seek political support, policy promotion and community involvement in our activities to lobby for an all-inclusive reproductive health implementation and services at all levels.
