Earned these names with respect and hope – let them be.
Ever reaching for the top from the basements
Always paying dues for no membership card
Wanting to belong in a local level ground
Delving into missions of success and failures
Embracing the day with contempt
The happiest of all children with blackfaces around u
Born with wings of fame
Cut of at a stage by the big brothers and sisters
The pains of today never rewarded by their thinking
The children of Nigeria in hope
Praying and in total submission to the will of the Father
Trials and frustrations abound in their very ways
No level playing ground provided for success
Participation in education no always available
But our inevitable future is sure
Totally bright because we are bright
Our names attesting to these facts
We carry in and within us – a future!
Talents abound in these wings waiting
Watching the most challenging for pronouncements
We have moved along as provided without recourse
Confessing our fears remain within me for years
We remain steadfast in our commitment
But the stony faces of our big brothers and sisters
Makes us become afraid in the face of our challenges!
Stop. Think. But our future remain brighter even now.
