Reduction or eradication of HIV/ AIDS is a national assignment for everyone that must become a mandatory worship song for the media. The reason for handpicking the media out of everyone is because people sing what the media rolls out for consumption. Consider a country where there’s a bill at the National Assembly and Senate making it mandatory for publishers of all our National Newspapers to “say something” about HIV/ AIDS on daily basis in a conspicuous column. Imagine the effect of a bill making it mandatory for Radio Stations to “say something” about HIV/ AIDS every 3 hours on daily basis. Fantasize the beauty of mandatory 60-second information to be broadcast by Television Stations every 3 hours on daily basis. Let this go with a pending punitive measure of forfeiting their licenses if they disregard the bill. Measure the impact after a few years. Sex Transmutation, an option that was first discussed by the renowned author, Napoleon Hill, in “Think and Grow Rich” is something to look at if we must achieve maximum impact in eradication of HIV/ AIDS. He opined that the passion, energy and concentration required by sex could make a man more productive if he would pour the same into other endeavours. Consequently, I propose that young and unmarried people be taught other games they could enjoy with the opposite sex without any sexual intercourse. Sex is a game that has skyrocketed among young people especially because of idleness in the presence of an opposite sex. Let us come out with an alternative game engaging people of the opposite without arousing sexual interests. Invariably, this would involve consultation with Psychologists. Movement against sex advocates is another important step I recommend. Before you wonder too far about what I mean by sex advocates, let me ask how you would describe a musician with vulgar languages that instigate long persistent thoughts about sex when we know so well that sex begins in the mind? What about pornographies in magazines and on the Internet? As much as I agree that we need to start a national fight, it is also important to start an international fight so that our national fight can be fruitful. Production of pornographies must be banned and owners of electronic pornographies (on videos, websites, wire services and so on) should face prosecution. If the curbing of discrimination is not considered, people will not open up about their status. They will also refuse a voluntary testing and counseling. If you guarantee the absence of discrimination I think more people will show up so I recommend a civil action against anybody who discriminates an HIV/AIDS patient. This is where to begin the fight but continuation lies in not assuming that anyone is too young for the message. It’s more of a mental fight. « return. |
