Women’s equal participation in political life, as voters, candidates and members of electoral committees, plays a crucial role in the advancement of women. Under-representation in any sphere of decision-making results in the perpetuation of policies and practices that do not serve the needs of women and men equally.

This holds same holds true, whether in local or national politics, international relations, business, media, or any other public or private arena. In order for Lesotho to live up to its gender commitment, more effort must put women into decision-making positions in all spheres.
