Abraham went on and on, till ten righteous. The Lord said: I will not destroy it for the sake of ten. As we all know, there were not even ten righteous, so Sodom and Gomorrah were destroyed. This story tells us that God is willing to change His plans. If not, He would have stopped Abraham right at the beginning and He would have said: No Abraham, I cannot change My plans.
Exodus 32:10- ...(after Israel worshipped the Golden Calf)..Now therefore, let Me alone, that My wrath may burn hot against them and I may consume them.
verse 11...Then Moses pleaded with the Lord his God...verse 12b...(Moses continued to the Lord) Turn from Your fierce wrath and relent from this harm to Your people.
verse 14... So the Lord relented from harm which He said He would do to His people.
Deuteronomy 9:19-20... For I (Moses) was afraid of the anger and hot displeasure with which the Lord was angry with you, to destroy you. But the Lord listened to me (changed His mind) at that time also. And the Lord was very angry with Aaron and would have destroyed him, so I prayed for Aaron also at the same time.
Again we see, the Lord changed His mind and did not destroy Israel nor Aaron.
In the book of Jonah we can read how Nineveh was spared.
Jonah 3:2f...One who relents from doing harm.
Jonah 3:10...Then God saw their works, that they turned from their evil way; and God relented from the disaster that He had said He would bring upon them, and He did not do it.
Amos 6:8b...I abhor the pride of Jacob and hate his palaces. Therefore I will deliver up the city..
Amos 7:2b...(Amos prayed) O Lord God, forgive, I pray, Oh, that Jacob may stand. For he is small!verse 3...So the Lord relented concerning this. It shall not be, said the Lord.
Nineveh and the tribe of Jacob were saved because God did relent.
You read Isaiah 38:1.....In those days Hezekiah was sick and near death. And Isaiah the prophet, the son of Amoz, went to him and said to him: Thus says he Lord, Set your house in order, for you shall die and not live".
Now, look further:
Isaiah 38:2+3...Then Hezekiah turned his face toward the wall, and prayed to the Lord and said, "Remember now, O Lord, I pray, how I have walked before You in truth and with a loyal heart, and have done what is good in Your sight." And Hezekiah wept bitterly.
vers 5..."Go and tell Hezekiah, Thus says the Lord, the God of David your father: "I have heard your prayer, I have seen your tears; surely I will add to your days fifteen years."
By turning his face to the wall Hezekiah closed himself off and saw only GOD. His fervent prayer and tears made God change things around.
When God changes things around, it is because of His mercy and always in our favor.
When it comes to His promises and mercy, the Lord won't budge.
He does NOT change His promises to us, nor nullify them.
His mercy endures forever.
Psalm 110:4.... The Lord has sworn and will not relent.
Numbers 23:19...God is not a man, that He should lie, nor a son of man, that He should repent. Has He said, and will He not do? Or has He spoken, and will He not make it good?
Malachai 3:6..For I am the Lord, I do not change; Therefore you are not consumed, O sons of Jacob.
As I mentioned before, we may not hear an audible voice, but He can speak to us in many different ways. In our sleep or dreams, through others, through His Word, in your heart. If you are not sure you've heard Him speak, ask for clarification.
You don't have to be afraid that you are going to make big mistakes while making decisions. He is your Heavenly Father and cares for you, as long as we walk in obedience and not in sin. He cares more about us than our earthly father. He is a Good God.If we as His children, are desperate and call upon His Name, together with Him things can be changed around.
Psalm 81:10... I am the Lord your God, Who brought you out of the land of Egypt;
Open your mouth wide, and I will fill it......
Analize this verse, meditate upon it and may you experience the depth of His Word,
the broadness of God's purpose for your life.
The encouragement hidden in these few syllables is multi faceted and just phenominal.
In this Psalm the Lord literally encourages us to ask with boldness.
Ephesians 3:12...in Whom (Jesus Christ) we have boldness and access with confidence through our faith in Him.
Hebrews 4:16...Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.
John 15:7...If you abide in Me, and My Words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it SHALL be done for you.
Yes, the Word of the Lord is Powerful, but our words can also be very powerful if presented in faith, in boldness and in reverence to God.
The infilling of the Holy Spirit is essential in your life to discern His Voice and His Will.
